LovingHandsDesign: Oh Carole the tshirt looks great on you . However, I’m with you on how deep or low it sits. I too don’t like my necklines that low, especially since I’m large busted. May I suggest 2 things. 1, I saw you match up the tissue pattern at the shoulder seams to ensure everything matched. May I suggest take it one step further and pin the side seam of the tissue pattern, try it own. Now you could see were the neckline was to low and raise it as well as narrow it a tad before cutting your fabric. Tissue fitting is what I learned from Patty Palmer, you can find videos on line or buy her book(s). I have. Game changer. The 2nd thing is to stay stitch the neckline once you cut it out. All the handling of the fabric, stretches it and distorts its. I learned this from Karina over at Lifting Pins and Needles, again game changer. Both techniques have reduced frustration in my sewing significantly. Hope this helps. The top is really pretty and you did a great job with the adjustments.

ritaadler-everett5392: Lol, send the shirt to me, Carole. I absolutely love the neckline and I know you have your reasons for not being comfortable in it, but I think it looks lovely on you. Lower necklines are very flattering, in my opinion. The fabric would have been perfect for me on the 4th of July as America celebrated its 250 birthday with tons of fireworks. It's really pretty. I've made 3 Lutterloh patterns, and none of them still exist in my closet. This should give you an idea of how unsuccessful they were. I was too ambitious right out of the gate and picked items that were too complicated (without more instruction) for me at the time. I really should pull it out again and give it another go. vickidame6487: Girl! You need to wear that anywhere. I actually always make my necklines about that low. I even made New Look 6216 into a dress and changed the neckline to Kwik Sew 3766 which is a scoop neckline and I wear it to church. It looks great with a necklace. Get outside your box!
Kakkydidit: I think the neckline looks nice. Some women are described as having more "shallow" chests, which can cause some gaping. I'd probably need to make the neckline narrower - I get what you mean by feeling more exposed! - Kelly

lizkay4282: Hi Carole, I think this tee looks great on you, very flattering. I suspect once you wear it around the house a bit you'll feel better about it. It certainly does go well with those shorts. I have a RTW tshirt with a similar neckline and it's not so much how low the neckline is that makes me a bit uncomfortable, but how wide it is ... all that expanse of skin showing, even though there's no cleaveage! I think it's just something you need to wear a bit to get used to.
jeanettefamulari3538: Carole, I love that tee on you. When I first saw it on you, I said 'oh, pretty'. You could always wear a simple chain to draw the eye elsewhere.

I'm also narrow shouldered and always have to adjust the upper bodice to fit. Your use of the Lutterloh system is impressive. Your really do love a challenge. Love the top with the lavender shorts.xx
DebbieLonergan: When you first showed the unfinished top with the bit of drape in the middle, this is what I thought:
Do a tiny pleat (or a couple of inches of gathering) in the center to bring the shoulders in. Then, for the neckline, cut four three-inch-wide pieces-- two for the shoulders and two for the front and back neckline. Fold them in half, and miter the corners to make it easier to sew in, emphasize the square neckline, bring the neckline up, and add stability. Not sure if it would have worked, or if that was a look you'd care to wear, but thought it was worth mentioning here. Thanks for sharing your sewing journey!

I don't like my tops too low either and I have a jersey dress that I have to insert some narrow elastic in so it doesn't gape, so I completely understand, but honestly unless it feels as if it's baggy,, I'd say you could even go down another inch and look great. The upper chest is a very attractive part of the body. (If you don't believe me, ask your hubby ). Wear it on holidays and get an awesome tan and then look out world

BYBabbra: Hi Carole, I do like it when you do a Lutterloh pattern. I feel that the design looks nice on you, but then I really like that neck styling on a top. The fabric is wonderful as it looks like fireworks and matches those shorts very well. Another great make and wonderful how you fixed the neck line. Happy sewing
